Quarshie Tornu is a Ghanaian artists, sculpture and educator. He has exhibited widely, building an international reputation over several decades as well as being regarded seminal figures on the West Africa and scene.
Born in Accra, Ghana in 1974, educated at the Martech College of Art Ghanata College of Art Oluwade Creative Art, Limpopo College of Arts and Shinlo Tiegio College of Art.
He mentor young artist and work with creative communities to help them develop new ideas.
Quarshie describes his style of working as seminal – abstract he creates images form his own imagination.
My inspiration as a painter comes from nature / environments and the beauty of our rich Ghanaian and African culture. I believed, art expresses everyday happening and so, every painting of mine, has a unique and rich story to tell. Life to me is meaningless without art or artist.
